When we look at a screen, the blue light enters our eyes. Research shows that excessive blue light causes eye fatigue, early cataract, and puts us at a higher risk of macular degeneration (a condition that results in blurred vision in the centre of the visual field or may even lead to blindness).
Blue light also affects our sleep hormones. Using digital gadgets late at night deceives the brain into thinking that it is still day, thus keeping us awake at night. Wearing blue filter protection spectacles will help to reduce the harmful blue light entering our eyes.
Blue filter protection spectacles are available in both prescriptive (with degree) or non-prescriptive (without degree). If you are the rare (and lucky) ones who have perfect eyesight or if you’ve done LASIK, it will still be good to have a non-prescriptive pair to protect your eyes.
